Ghana

Our two week trip along the coast of Ghana was a very different experience to other surftrips in developing countries. People living on the coast of Ghana are amongst the poorest  of the country. They didnt even have the most simple hygienic standards or rules. For example on a small towns beach were woman were waiting for the fishing boats to take the fresh caught fish over and kids were playing in the sand, the whole beach was covered with human excrements. It was so bad smelling and discusting that all of us had a  hard time not to through up.

The water close to villages was really dirty and everyone of us got really stomach sick.

Travelling there as foreigners every policeman stopped us and asked us for money, either for having a surfbag on the roof or, when we did put all the boards inside the car for having them inside the car. Our driver than very discreetly already did put a bill inside the carpapers before handing them over to the police.
