Verbier Xtreme Worldtour Final

Mar 25, 2010 in WINTER NEWS

For the Final of the Freeride Worldtour we all did meet in Verbier to ride the famous bec de rosses. At the first try last saturday weather moved in and just one skier was missing to make the 2/3 cut to have a final result. the decission was made to go for a new contest day which will bring new results for all male snowbaorders and skiers. After having a strong run on saturday it took me a full day to motivate myself again to go up and try to even do better, knowing that i still had chances to steal the Title of Xavier. The conditions were great and it was most probably the best show with the highest level ever on a freeride comp. What a day for the 15th anniversary.

I did my `perfect run´ on the bec and came third behind Xavier and Cyril, that means i ended the Season as Overall second behind Xavier and before Matt Annetts.

i did my personal `dreamline´ on the bec: starting on the sharp ridge between light and shadow, than drop into the center over hollywood...

Splittboarding tahoes backcounty

Mar 05, 2010 in WINTER NEWS

after a good storm it cleared up and i was invited to join jeremy jones and the deeper crew on a splittboard mission in lake tahoes backcountry. the other rider that came along was josh dirksen who seems to be fully into splittboarding to get were the powder is. although the weather moved in when we were ready to ride our lines it was a nice day out that did show me again that the best terrain is waiting for us to be accessed by hiking.

beautifull morning around tahoe
looks like back home
little beauty
josh dirksen is getting ready just before the weather moved in, it is already the 10th splittboard he did build...

US westcoast

Squaw Valley is the first destination of my travel also to take part in the 3rd stop of the FWT. I did hear a lot about this place close to lake Tahoe and a  lot of the `big names´ in freeriding/skiing come from Squaw. After riding a few days in the resort i understand why so many strong riders come from this place, it seems there are endless options to ride fun little lines and huck of cliffs.  Robb Gaffney even brought out a book called `Squawllywood´that tells you all the names of lines and rocks you can hit off piste plus the difficulty and the hero factor…riding California!

The famous forbidden fruit, Tram face is out of bounds and only opened for the competition
